Day 1After Xavier's celebration, Vanessa and I made our way to the headquarters. We were late and the whole bus of people were waiting for us. :X
Reached the camp site, Foon Yew Kulai and gaped with amazement. The whole school was like 3 or 4 times bigger than ours.
The field/stadium the classes one part of the school Our school's Form 5's and Form 4's went there as helpers. Had an explanation about the games that we were going to conduct, went to the canteen which was like 2 or 3 times bigger than our's too to cut the cloth for the participants for their 3 legged race. I along with the other members were in charge of the tortoise jump game that included the presence of water. I was supposed to splash the participants that lost but ended up getting splashed by them. And other helpers sibuk aje came and splash me. =.= Continued with the 3 legged race and it was dinner time. We had good food. There was a portion of meat, vegetable and appetizer for each lunch box. After dinner there was a demonstration for bandaging by the officer followed by the participants to practice. Supper time and lights off. Wasn't used to sleeping on the hard floor but dozed off at last after a long exhausting day.
Our dorm Day 2Woke up feeling ever so cold. Washed up and went for morning exercise. We girls were the only helpers that woke up and helped with the morning exercise while most of them slept in. While washing up, an incident occured.
Maykah's spectacles fell in the toilet hole.
Not the sitting one. The squat one. She was already in tears when I went over to have a look. Jenny mustered up all her courage, tied her arm with plastic bag, squat and leaned over the hole and retrieved the specs.
After breakfast, it was footdrill. Though we were only in charge of CPR and Practical, we went and helped out. It was mostly the guys from JMF teaching the participants while we corrected their mistakes. The way one of them taught was so comical, Vanessa and I ended up laughing. The other helpers took over the afternoon shift and we girls slept. Woke up and learned rope tieing for Camp Craft. Dinner followed by Camp Craft. Supper time followed by a meeting for the helpers. Everyone got told off and there were some controversial issues raised. Barely could open my eyes during the meeting.
Day 3Washed up, morning exercise and then the participants rotated for every activity. Fire drill, Stretcher drill, Practical and CPR. I was in Practical and we had to watch 14 videos for 4 times as there were 4 groups. Practical, Marching, Team test, CPR and a cartoon about the 7 principles. We had to make sure the participants weren't dozing off or playing with their phones. Those participants that were at the basketball court near the trees got infected by the caterpillars and there was an outbreak of skin allergy that spreaded to almost everyone. Some of them had to go to a clinic for a jab and lots of cream and medicine were bought for the affected people. Helpers had to help with the applying of vinegar and cream. Mei ki left and left us teary eyed with sunken hearts. After dinner, all of us got to watch Pursuit of Happyness. Most of us were dozing off. Helpers that helped the participant with the applying of vinegar got affected too. I had a little but I tried not to scratch and so it went off. Supper and bedtime. It was the best night as I dozed off the minute my head sank into my small little pillow.
Day 4Washed up, morning exercise of Macarena and Chicken Dance conducted by the assistant camp leader. One joker he is. Made us all danced till most of our energy were drained out. After breakfast, footdrill revision. Then came the demonstration of footdrill by 27 people leaded by commander Kai Hui. They had to demonstrate in the middle of the rain. After that, we packed up our luggage and proceeded for the closing ceremony. Then it was photo-taking session. Wholeload of people took picture with the camp leader and another assistant camp leader who were brothers. The reason why was that they were quite good looking. They smiled at the camera till their mouths were aching. Many participants wanted to take picture with us Convent helpers too. Cheh wah. When the helper and the Committee members took a group picture, thousands of cameras came flashing at us. Left Foon Yew Kulai with a heavy heart.
Overall, we Convent helpers really enjoyed the camp. When we said that we were from Convent, they were somehow impressed. XD XD Probably because we could speak decent English. Rumour has it that we were the best helpers. 'Ren lao ren yuan' XD
These 4 days I had nothing to worried about, not thinking of anything, just involving myself whole heartedly in the camp. The first and the best camp I've ever had. :D
I miss camp already :(
